Just want toknow how everyone is doing with the cigarette quitting.

Posted in Group:

Well this Friday it will be two months off cigarettes. It hasn't been too bad but why is it every time I have quit in the past, something BIG happens in my life? It never fails, that when I quit bad things happen to me and I have always given in. Last year my father died, 20 years ago my 1st husband and I split up. My mother died, and lots of other things have come along every time i quit. Well, this time was no different. Last week I found out that our life savings are gone. All the money we depended to take care of us in our old age is gone. IF we can get it back it won't be for about 10 years. Ok what do we do in the meantime? I am 61 years old. I don't know if i will be alive in 10 years. I really want a cigarette, but so far I haven't given in. I'm afraid I will give in. Help!

Ok-that is a pretty BIG bad thing to happen, but smoking is not going to help. It may ease the pain for a moment, but then it will still be there. Stay strong-suck on candy or twizzlers for the oral sensation and take deep breaths-you can pass this hurdle.

Hugs-

Well, if I haven't succumbed by now, I don't think I will. One day at a time. I am so glad I found this website. I haven't been on a lot but I found comfort and support whenever I do. As depressed as I have been, getting on this site today turned me around. I not only wrote about my problems (which was cathartic) but found that when I read others stories, I forgot my own troubles and tried to help them. Well, it snapped me out of my funk and the desire for a cigarette has passed for the moment. One day at a time. They need CA, Cigarettes Anonymous. :-)
